Paso Robles Vineyards: A Vast and Diverse Winegrowing Mecca

The Paso Robles American Viticultural Appellation (AVA) is home to more than 250 wineries and 40,000 acres of vineyards. Our proximity to the Pacific Ocean, the distinct microclimates and diverse soils, combined with warm days and cool nights, make growing conditions ideal for winegrowing. Thanks to our distinct microclimates and soils, the large Paso Robles AVA is made up of 11 sub-AVAs, all with their own unique terroir.

Paso’s ideal growing conditions allow for a rich diversity of grapes. We currently grow more than 40 different varieties. These include Rhône grapes (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Viognier and Roussanne etc.), Bordeaux grapes (Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot), as well as Italian and Spanish varieties. There’s also no shortage of Paso’s complex and delicious Zinfandel, Paso’s heritage grape.
