Rhone Rangers is America's leading non-profit organization dedicated to promoting American Rhone varietal wines. American Rhone-style wines are made from the same grapes that have flourished for centuries in France’s Rhone River Valley, and their growing popularity in the United States speaks to their versatility with food, wide range of rich flavors, and to the skills of American winemakers. For a wine to qualify as a “Rhone Rangers” wine, the winery must be a member of the organization and 75% of the wine’s content must include one or more of the twenty-two traditional Rhone grape varieties as approved by the French government for the wines of the Cotes du Rhone (including Petite Sirah/Durif).

Through events like the Rhone Rangers Experience, they seek to educate the public on Rhone varietal wine grapes grown in America and to promote the production and enjoyment of these wines.

Castoro Cellars launched Beaverstock in 2013 to commemorate its 30th anniversary. Four years later (after facing Woodstock-related copyright concerns), the team reintroduced the Whale Rock Music & Arts Festival. Today’s family-friendly jam-fest takes its name from the event’s Whale Rock Vineyard home. The mid-September gathering promises two days of peace, music, art and yoga in the vines.

Two days of back-to-back musical performances unfold on two stages set among grass-covered hills and outdoor dance spaces. Food trucks dish up picnic-style eats to pair with Castoro wines, craft beers and hard ciders. Local artists display their latest work at the festival, and all-ages yoga sessions stretch out under the trees. Kids can take part in magic shows, craft workshops and face painting fun. Festival entrance for children ages 5 to 12 is just $10, and fans ages four and under get in for free.

The entire month of October is Harvest Wine Month. Wineries host individual events throughout the month. Look for specialty tours, winemaker dinners, grape stomps, music events, and more. Harvest Wine Month (HWM) is a themed, month-long celebration that does not feature a single marquee event, but rather individual experiences at the area wineries. A year’s hard work is rewarded with another great harvest. Come celebrate with us during Harvest Wine Month, October 1 – 31.

The first Pioneer Day was held on October 12, 1931. It was organized by community volunteers working with generous donations of time, materials and money from individuals, businesses, churches and service organizations. Their goal was to provide a day of community friendship and a commemoration of the heritage of the Paso Robles area. It would also become a day set aside to say "Thank You" to all of the people who support the business and professional community of the area throughout the year. Most businesses closed so that their employees could enjoy and participate in the activities and family reunions. There were to be no charges for any of the events, no commercial concessions and lunch would be provided at no cost.

Today, Pioneer Day is one of Paso's greatest celebrations and oldest traditions, bringing visitors and longtime locals together for a day full of festivities, history, and beans. Take a trip to old California during this event-packed day of family fun. Bring the entire family and enjoy viewing running antique tractors, horse-drawn wagons, marching bands, mounted equestrian groups, dancers, floats, fire engines, vintage cars and more.

The annual Paderewski Festival is one of Paso Robles’ preeminent cultural events, and it celebrates the life and local connections of Ignacy Jan Paderewski. The Polish-born pianist, composer, philanthropist and politician once served as Poland’s prime minister, signing the Treaty of Versailles that ended World War I. In 1914, he bought Rancho San Ignacio and Rancho Santa Helena in Paso Robles. Paderewski later planted almonds, orchards and zinfandel grapes that were processed at York Mountain Winery. Today, Epoch Estate Wines owns his renowned vineyards.

Each November, the three-day Paderewski Festival honors Paderewski’s history and musical legacy through performances, master classes, lectures, film screenings and awards. A youth piano competition showcases Central California students. During select years, young Polish musicians perform for Paso Robles audiences through the Paderewski Festival Cultural Exchange Program. Wine receptions and themed dinners round out the festival schedule.

For more than a decade, America’s undiscovered, under-recognized and most exclusive small-lot producers have poured their best at the annual Garagiste Festival. The Paso Robles wine festival weekend features micro-production winemakers who craft fewer than 1,500 cases per year. Most participants don’t have tasting rooms and don’t appear on traditional wine country maps, and event ticket sales are limited to cap crowd size. That means you’ll find few lines and plenty of time to chat with the pros.

This one-of-a-kind festival takes place across wine country on select weekends each year. The Paso flagship happens each November at the Paso Robles Event Center, on the mid state fair grounds. This event regularly earns praise from participants and national media—including USA Today, which named Garagiste the country's best wine festival in its 2018 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards.
