Paso Robles has had a long tradition of giving back, not just during the holidays, but all year long. We have highlighted a few local businesses that are doing just that, using their ingenuity to help others in need or better serve the community. When visiting Paso during the holidays, or any time of year for that matter, pay them a visit to share in their passion for the charities and the people they serve.

Fig at Courtney's House

Just south of Paso Robles lies the quaint town of Templeton, a charming place to spend an afternoon when visiting Paso. Templeton is home to one of the best and most diverse farmers markets that pops up every Saturday morning, but beyond the market lies the perfect brunch or lunch location that will not only fill your belly, but fill your soul.

Fig at Courtney's House offers an artisan menu with a mission that provides “adults with intellectual & developmental disabilities a safe, supportive & individualized environment where they can grow holistically in areas of vocational, social & life skills and realize their full personal potential.” The spirit of this restaurant cannot be beat and neither can the ambiance, set in a white Victorian with a broad wrap around porch, surrounded by old oaks, you are transported to eras past and able to exhale. The team at Fig at Courtney's House invites you to join them for a meal, a glass of wine, or a cup of coffee and be a part of something special.

Hayseed & Housdon

A Garagiste with a heart of gold! Ted Ross, owner/winemaker of Hayseed & Housdon, had one goal in mind when setting out to open a winery and tasting room, (beyond making great juice) he wanted to help others. With the opening of his properly named “Tasting Garage,” he has done just that. The wine lineup is simple, with just four classics to choose from, a Chardonnay, Grenache Rose, Pinot Noir, and a Cabernet Sauvignon blend, and the mission is just as straight forward, each bottle of wine sold gives back to a different charity.

The 2018 Excuse My Dust Chardonnay is dedicated to RISE, which provides crisis intervention and treatment services to survivors of sexual and intimate partner violence and their loved ones.

Paso Cares provides for the immediate and longer-term needs of homeless and needy persons and families in the Paso Robles area including warming stations and nourishing meals. Proceeds from the 2018 4:19 TO PASO Rosé will be donated to the Paso Cares charity.

Wine4Paws partners will benefit from the 2017 Pray For Love Pinot Noir, this charity helps fund the Woods Humane Society in conjunction with the ASPCA’s Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month.

Operation Surf helps wounded and injured active-duty military and veteran heroes move forward in a positive direction through an epic, life-changing surfing experience that builds confidence and healing. Proceeds from the 2016 Warrior Cabernet / Petite Sirah blend with be donated to this charity.

Make a stop by Hayseed & Housdon’s downtown Tasting Garage and say hello to Ted as you give back to those in need.
