Daily Flights Between San Luis Obispo with Dallas/Ft. Worth began April 2

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA — Today the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport (SBP) welcomed its first nonstop flight from Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport (DFW). American Airlines will now provide daily service between SBP and DFW.

Direct service to Dallas/Ft. Worth has long been sought after in San Luis Obispo, and comes after years of work on behalf of the airport, Visit SLO CAL, San Luis Obispo County and several regional partners.

“We look forward to beginning this new route from San Luis Obispo to our largest hub in Dallas/Fort Worth,” said Kyle Mabry, Vice President, Western Division Sales. “This new service will provide customers access to the more than 900 peak daily departures at DFW, including new seasonal service to Dublin and Munich beginning in June.”

The route will provide several benefits to the San Luis Obispo community. It will link the region directly into American Airlines’ hub airport, and offer one-stop access to an additional 89 destinations, both domestic and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. The flight will also provide increased access to San Luis Obispo County’s businesses, higher learning institutions and popular wine region.

“This Dallas flight is an important part of our strategy to establish SLO CAL as a leading destination,” shared Chuck Davison, President and CEO of Visit SLO CAL. “Increasing air service into SLO CAL is not only vital to the strength of our tourism industry, it is essential to the sustainability of our economy and overall quality of life. These new flights don’t just connect people, they connect economies, and each time we do that we make this an even better place to live, work and visit.”

The route will help extend SBP’s impressive growth streak. San Luis Obispo now has service to six major cities with a total of 16 flights each day, and has virtually doubled its passenger traffic over the last five years.

Debbie Arnold, Chairwoman of the Board of Supervisors, said, “I am so happy to see that the commitment to tourism and our local economy has resulted in improving our regional airport and attracting new services to more destinations.”

“Keep in mind that with this flight, we’re not just getting connections to the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex—although that in itself is huge,” added Kevin Bumen, Director of Airports. “We’re also getting dozens of additional connections through one of the busiest airports in the country, and on the world’s largest airline. The airport and its partners work nonstop to provide the community new connectivity through powerful airline networks, and our efforts are really beginning to pay off.”

The route is flown on an Embraer 175 jet, equipped with 12 First Class seats, 20 Main Cabin Extra seats offering additional legroom and 44 seats in the Main Cabin. Visit aa.com to purchase tickets.
