Paso Robles, CA -  On the weekend of June 220-22, hundreds gathered, excited to learn what the buzz was all about, starting with a Friday Night Marketplace kick-off gathering at Paso Robles' Downtown City Park. Then, the gates were swung wide open to over 25 farms & makers all along the SLO County Farm Trail - from olive oil tastings and pig greetings to beekeeping and gardening workshops, folks gathered throughout SLO CAL to meet local farmers and learn about all that goes into growing and producing our local groceries and goods. Open Farm Days gets better and better every year and we're so thankful to all who came out to TOUR, TASTE, and LEARN along the SLO County Farm Trail.

While folks came out to enjoy a boots on the ground good time in barnyards and fields at local family farms, what was gathered was so much more - both tourists & townies came out in droves, excited, engaged, and interested to truly connect to our local agriculture. The energy was amazing, the smiles were infectious, and as promised, the animals were adorable.

Guests blazed their own trail learning more about our local agricultural life through observing busy bees in their hives, strolling through lavender fields, sipping local wines, grazing on locally grown groceries, tasting exquisite olive oils, hand-crafting aromatic & creative take-a-ways to remember the day by, touring the very fields their lunches were harvested from, cuddling with newborns, and so much more.

FARMstead ED partners and friends raised awareness of our family farms and moo-la to infuse back into our agricultural community, all while making life-long memories rooted in a deeper understanding of what makes this SLO CAL community so truly special. Big thanks go out to our Open Farm Days herd bosses, Lynette Sonne, (SLO County Farm Trail), Gina Hambly (Hambly Farms), Jennifer Tallent Joseph (The Groves on 41) and all the FARMstead ED farmers and purveyors who jumped through hoops and over fences planning and promoting, helping spread the word, and receiving the community with open arms (and gates) by hosting farm tours, workshops, demo’s, tastings and unique agricultural experiences.

FARMstead ED: Brings folks together with our locally grown and made via agricultural experiences and gatherings. San Luis Obispo County local, Lynette Sonne, founded FARMstead ED in 2014 to serve as a conduit between visitors and farmers; educating folks on the importance of sustainable practices, local land, and craft. Sonne organizes opportunities for both tourists and townies to learn about everything from meat to mixology via educational workshops & gatherings held at local farms, ranches and other production-related venues.

TOUR – TASTE – LEARN on the SLO County Farm Trail. Sonne’s agricultural roots started growing again with the SLO County Farm Trail in 2020, connecting agri-enthusiasts with San Luis Obispo County ranches, farms, and purveyors with a printed and on-line trail map, and the county’s first ever Open Farm Days in 2021.
