Celebrate in Paso: Rustic Wedding Venues and more!
Monday, March 14, 2011
Paso Robles has many properties with barns available for your special event. Ranging from one to 100 years old, barns can offer history and quaintness. Thacher Winery boasts a historic barn that is 90 years old, nestled amongst hills, oaks and vineyards. Hammersky Vineyards has a beautiful restored farmhouse, perfect for a bride and groom to begin their honeymoon in Paso Robles, or to be used as a beautiful backdrop for a wedding or anniversary celebration.
Extremely old barns that look like they could fall over at any moment are a popular choice. You know, paint peeling, light coming through the slats, everything rusty… many couples love that. Then there are the couples that love the bright, brand new or remodeled farmhouses. Crisp with their white paint and happy shutters, farmhouses give the feeling of being married at home in your backyard.
Barns can also offer an inside facility in a town where outdoor is king. 95 percent of my couples want to take advantage of Paso Robles’ beautiful weather and scenery. A barn gives you an inside facility with an outdoor feeling. Some barns even have a wall removed bringing the outside in.
A barn can offer a wide range of budget options for couples as well. I have done over the top weddings in rural barns where no expense is spared. At the same time a barn is the perfect place for a couple with a ‘creative budget.’ You can do amazing things with fruit, hay, mason jars, and even barbed wire. You heard me. I LOVE mixing elements when planning a wedding. A barbed wire wreath with a few beautiful flowers bunched in it can be an awesome focal point for the outside of a barn. Vintage mason jars with wildflowers bunched together in different sizes make a beautiful and cost effective centerpiece. Mismatching silverware, crystal and china bought at second hand stores can add a bit of whimsy to your table.
Whatever the budget or taste, Paso Robles is the ideal destination for a rustic, barn wedding. Stay tuned for next month's Celebrate in Paso blog, when I talk about outdoor, vineyard weddings in Paso Robles!
