Assessing Frost Damage: Paso Experts Say It's Too Early To Tell
By Nancy Hoover

If you consider yourself a wine aficionado then you've probably already heard about the recent frost that blanketed much of California wine country. Paso Robles was no exception to this, experiencing a series of freezing cold nights on April 9, 10 and 11 that dipped in the mid to high 20s and low 30s and had many vineyard managers up in the wee morning hours on frost patrol.

Paso Passport Spotlight on Business
By Tina Swithin
This month features Studios on the Park, a nonprofit open studios art center located in the heart of historic downtown Paso Robles across from the City Park. Visitors are welcome to visit the nine studios, 50 professional artists, and two galleries: Fine Craft, representing the finest in American craft, and The Showroom Gallery, featuring members of the Paso Robles Art Association.
Studios on the Park is the dream of Anne Laddon, a professional artist and 25 year resident of Paso Robles. Her passion for sharing the creative process with others and strong belief that "anyone can be an artist" are what motivated her to open Studios on the Park nearly two years ago. Since that time, the organization has become a true centerpoint for arts in the north county. Quality themed exhibitions bring creativity to life through dynamic displays and adults and children are encouraged to explore the visual arts through a diverse lineup of classes and workshops each week. Studios on the Park is also proud to present the third annual Paso Robles Festival of the Arts on Saturday, May 28, 2011. The day starts with a Plein Air Quick-Draw and Auction, followed by a Fine Art Show, adult art seminars, a paint jam, hands-on youth art stations, live music, dance performances and other musical and visual surprises. Don't miss this incredible event! The public is welcome to visit Studios on the Park at 1130 Pine Street every Thursday thru Sunday.

Pairing in Paso : Tobin James Cellars
Blue Moon Reserve Zinfandel paired with Mongolian Barbequed Lamb Chops
By Tina Swithin
Someone recently asked me for advice on "fun" wineries to visit when vacationing in the Paso Robles area. When I stop to ponder the fun wineries in Paso Robles, there is one which earns a gold medal in my mind. That winery is none other than Tobin James Cellars - located just eight miles east of Paso Robles on Highway 46 amongst 71 acres of gorgeous vineyards. Perhaps their website explains it best, "A magnificent setting for magnificent wines."
