A Day of Art, Food and Wine in Downtown Paso

If you’re an artist, foodie or wine-lover, September 19th is the perfect day to be in Paso Robles. Starting with the annual Arte de Tiza event at 8 a.m. and continuing with the Taste of Downtown at 11 a.m., this Saturday will be full of colorful chalk drawings, tasty samples and delicious wine.

The day will begin with Arte de Tiza, a free event produced by the Paso Robles Art Association that celebrates the area’s talented artists. During Arte de Tiza, participants in five categories – ranging from pre-school to adult – will have the opportunity to decorate a portion of the sidewalk surrounding Downtown City Park.

Feel free to bring your own supplies and take part in this fun activity or cheer on your favorite artist from each division as they share their talent and participate in a friendly competition for awards and bragging rights. When complete, their efforts will have transformed Pine and 12th streets into a beautiful patchwork of chalk drawings.

After seeing the talent of Paso’s art community firsthand at the Arte de Tiza, visitors can experience the area’s renowned culinary and wine scenes at the 18th annual Taste of Downtown. This popular event enables visitors to literally get a taste of downtown Paso as the area’s merchants open their doors for one-on-one sampling. After purchasing a pass for only $25, you can enjoy samples from more than 45 restaurants and wineries between the hours of 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Between events or tastings, gather your friends or family together and take a moment to relax in the peaceful Downtown City Park. A fun DJ will be present between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., entertaining visitors as they sit in the picturesque gazebo or wander beneath the majestic oak trees.

Arte de Tiza is held in conjunction with Paso Robles Main Street Association’s Taste of Downtown. The funds raised through sponsorships and donations provide scholarships for Paso Robles-area art students at nearby Cuesta College.
