The California Mid-State Fair is a Mid-Summer Must!

“The Biggest Little Fair Anywhere!” – more commonly known as the California Mid-State Fair – has definitely earned its reputation. Held annually at the Paso Robles Event Center, this 12-day event welcomes hundreds of thousands of guests to a fusion of concerts, livestock shows, carnival rides, food demonstrations and more.

Returning July 22 – August 2, this year’s fair is a great mid-summer activity to enjoy with friends or family. The carnival area in the south east corner is a must-visit, offering visitors the classic carnival experience with a Ferris Wheel, Merry-Go-Round and other exciting rides.

Outdoors, animal-lovers will enjoy watching the popular equestrian shows and cattle drive. Kids 6 years old and younger will have the opportunity to participate in a mutton bustin’ competition so be sure to bring your camera! Indoors, visitors can explore a variety of fascinating displays featuring everything from ag exhibits and tractor restoration to fine arts and photography.

Other popular attractions include the multitude of concerts and special events at the fair’s four stages. The Chumash Grandstand Arena will feature exciting live performances by Meghan Trainor, Pitbull, Jason Aldean, Brantley Gilbert and more. In addition to music groups, the arena will host the Country Rodeo Finals on August 1, and Monster Trucks on August 2. Between concerts at the Chumash Grandstand Arena, be sure to check out the lineups at the other three free stages! Offerings include live band karaoke, performances from popular local bands like Moonshiner Collective, and fun events like the Derby Hat Challenge and locally grown salsa competition.
