Be an Artist and a Food Critic for a Day!

Mark your calendars for September 20 and consider yourself booked! Downtown Paso Robles is hosting two amazing events that day and you won’t want to miss a second. Showcase your artistic skills or admire those of others with Arte De Tiza, an annual sidewalk chalk art event; then savor the flavors of Paso with Taste of Downtown.

Try out every color!

You don’t have to be Picasso to show off what you can do with a pack of chalk. Art De Tiza is a fun, free event and anyone is welcome to join in the fun. There will be a registration table on Pine Street between 11th and 12th Streets and registration will be from 8 to 10 a.m. as long as there is space available. If you want to participate, be sure to show up bright and early since there are no reservations.

There are four divisions for artists: elementary, middle school, high school and adult. Awards will be announced from the park bandstand beginning at 12:20 p.m. for 1st, 2nd and third place prizes in each division. If you don’t want to get too chalked up, you can still peruse the creations to see what fun ideas others come up with.

Not your typical samples

After you’ve worked up an appetite with all that artwork, go get yourself a Taste of Downtown. Downtown Paso Robles has so many incredible restaurants and wineries which have opened their doors to visitors for one-on-one samplings. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., for just $25, you can sample cuisine from over 45 fine dining establishments, wineries and breweries. Participating eateries and wineries located outside the downtown square will offer their goodies in the park, so you don’t have to worry about traveling too far.

Bring the whole family down to Paso on Saturday, Sept. 20 for a day full of tasty treats and fun chalk creations. The kids can have their own square for chalk art as long as you arrive early, and you can all make a day out of sampling some of the best food Paso has to offer.
